RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES --
FRAUD AND FALSE DEALING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 11-18-19 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-18 entitled "Fraud and False Dealing" is hereby repealed.

11-18-19. Deception in hiring of horse or carriage -- Whoever hires a horse or carriage with intent to cheat their owner, or who makes to the owner of any horse or carriage, or to any agent of that owner, any false statement with the intent to cheat the owner in reference to the use of the horse or carriage, or as to the distance it has been driven, shall be punished by a fine of not more than twenty dollars ($20.00) or be imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days. Nothing in this section shall be construed to apply to the obtaining of possession by any person of any horse or carriage in any way deemed to be larceny at common law.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
