S  E  N  A  T  E    R  E  S  O  L  U  T  I  O  N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE COASTAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COUNCIL PREPARE AND ADOPT A SPECIAL AREA MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR GREENWICH BAY AND ASSOCIATED COVES

WHEREAS, The health, safety and welfare of all the citizens of Rhode Island are matters of paramount importance to the Senate. The residents of the city of Warwick are also entitled to these rights; and

WHEREAS, Greenwich Bay is a unique salt water habitat for fish and wildlife that also supports recreational boating by many people; and

WHEREAS, It is necessary to protect and preserve the viability of Greenwich Bay as a fish and wildlife habitat as well as recreational boating area; and

WHEREAS, The development of a special area management plan for Greenwich Bay and associated coves and all the coves and tidal estuaries in the city would be beneficial for the State of Rhode Island, as Greenwich Bay is used by many people from around the state; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests the Coastal Resource Management Council prepare and adopt a special area management plan for Greenwich Bay and associated coves; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mayor Scott Avedisian, the Warwick City Council, and the Coastal Resource Management Council.
