AN ACT

RELATING TO COURTS AND CIVIL PROCEDURE -- CLERKS OF SUPREME AND

SUPERIOR COURTS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 8-4-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 8-4 entitled "Clerks of

Supreme and Superior Courts" is hereby amended to read as follows:

8-4-3. Vacancy in office of clerk. -- In case of a vacancy in the office of the clerk of the

supreme court from any cause, the governor chief justice shall appoint some person to fill such

vacancy for the balance of the unexpired term and until his or her successor is appointed and

qualified.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
