A N A C T

RELATING TO BOXING AND WRESTLING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 41-5-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 41-5 entitled "Boxing and

Wrestling" is hereby repealed.

41-5-2. Sunday boxing prohibited. -- No boxing or sparring match or exhibition,

whether or not exempted under section 41-5-1, shall occur on Sunday; provided, however, that in

the year 1989, the division of racing and athletics may, upon application, permit one boxing or

sparring match or exhibition to take place on Sunday. Provided further, that the division of racing

and athletics may, upon application, permit one boxing or sparring match or exhibition to take

place on Sunday, August 11, 1996. The division may upon application grant licenses for

wrestling matches to take place on Sunday.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
