H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RENAMING, AMENDING AND EXTENDING THE SPECIAL HOUSE COMMISSION TO DEVELOP NECESSARY LEGISLATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS TO BE INTRODUCED IN THE JANUARY 2004 SESSION WHICH WOULD COMPLEMENT AND STRENGTHEN EXISTING BROWNFIELDS PROGRAMS AND TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT BROWNFIELDS REMEDIATION AND REUSE

     RESOLVED, That the name of the special House commission created by resolution No.

323 passed by the House of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2001, and approved June

27, 2001, entitled "House Resolution Creating a Special House Commission to Develop

Necessary Legislative Recommendations to Be Introduced in the January 2002 Session Which

Would Complement and Strengthen Existing Brownfields Programs and to Increase Public

Awareness about Brownfields Remediation and Reuse" and as amended by resolution 141 passed

by the General Assembly as its January session, A.D. 2002 and approved April 12, 2002, entitled

"House Resolution Creating a Special House Commission to Develop Necessary Legislative

Recommendations to Be Introduced in the January 2002 Session Which Would Complement and

Strengthen Existing Brownfields Programs and to Increase Public Awareness about Brownfields

Remediation and Reuse" is amended and shall hereby be known as "A Special House

Commission to Study Ways to Promote Brownfields Remediation and Reuse"; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the composition of said House commission is hereby amended by: (i)

adding six (6) members: one (1) of whom shall be the Director of Statewide Planning, or his/her

designee; one (1) of whom shall be a representative of the city of Providence; one (1) of whom

shall be a representative of the city of East Providence; one (1) of whom shall be a representative

of Preserve Rhode Island; and two (2) additional members of the House of Representatives; and

(ii) removing four (4) members as follows: one (1) of whom shall be a representative of a

financial institution; one (1) of whom shall be a representative of an insurance company; one (1)

of whom shall be a representative of an environmental law firm; and one (1) of whom shall be a

representative of the Clean Land Fund. All appointments and removals shall be made by the

Speaker of the House; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That said House commission is authorized to continue its work and make a

report to the House of Representatives on or before January 31, 2004; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That said commission shall expire at the close of the 2004 legislative

session.
