H O U S E  R E S O L U T I O N

CREATING A PERMANENT ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR THE RHODE ISLAND HOUSE

VETERANS' AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Carter, San Bento, Gallison, Shanley, and Moffitt

     Date Introduced: January 07, 2004

 

 

     RESOLVED, That a special permanent advisory council be and the same is hereby

created consisting of nine (9) members; who shall be honorable discharged war veterans' and be

qualified electors of this state; all of whom shall be appointed by the speaker.

     The purpose of said advisory council shall be to assist the chairman of the House of

Veterans' Affairs with various veteran issues.

     Forthwith upon passage of this resolution, the members of the advisory council shall meet

at the call of the speaker and organize and shall select a chairperson. Vacancies in said advisory

council shall be filled in like manner as the original appointment.

     The membership of said advisory shall receive no compensation for their services.

     All departments and agencies of the state shall furnish such advice and information,

documentary and otherwise to said advisory council and its agents as is deemed necessary or

desirable by the advisory council to facilitate the purposes of this resolution.

     The speaker of the house is hereby authorized and directed to provide suitable quarters

for said advisory council.
