S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

MEMORIALIZING CONGRESS TO STOP ANY FUTURE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PLAN TO INCREASE THE COST OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PHARMACY PROGRAM FOR THOSE WHO SERVE FULL MILITARY CAREERS, AND THE SURVIVORS OF THOSE FAMILIES

     WHEREAS, Our nation’s career Military veterans, who have served full military careers

protecting our security and safety, have made enormous sacrifices throughout their lives in the

service of their country. They have spent time away from their families, served under hazardous

circumstances and have risked their lives protecting our liberty; and

     WHEREAS, The Department of Defense has indicated that the possible implementation

of pharmacy increases will be studied for 2006 and beyond. This would be a betrayal of our

career veterans and we urge you to take all necessary actions to prevent such a policy from being

implemented. Our veterans, who devoted a good portion of their lives to our nation and often

served at mortal risk, deserve no less than the action we are requesting; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby respectfully requests that the United States Congress take all actions necessary to stop any

future Department of Defense plan to increase the cost of the Department of Defense pharmacy

program for those who serve full military careers, and the survivors of those families; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Rhode Island congressional delegation.
