S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

CELEBRATING COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER DAY

     

     

     Introduced By: Senators Paiva-Weed, F Caprio, Tassoni, J Montalbano, and Algiere

     Date Introduced: May 18, 2005

 

 

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's 12 community health centers operate 34 health care facilities

throughout the state, providing primary care, dental and mental health services to more than

124,000 Rhode Islanders; and

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's community health centers serve 12% of the state's

population; and

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's community health centers serve patients from every city and

town; and

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's community health centers serve one in four children in the

state's core cities; and

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island's community health centers serve more than 20% of the state's

uninsured population; and

     WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Health Center Association and its member health centers

actively advocate for all Rhode Islanders to have access to high quality, affordable health care

whether or not they have health insurance; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby recognizes the vital role community health centers play in Rhode Island's health care

infrastructure and applauds their success in improving the public health of our state; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Health Center Association.
