J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PAY CERTAIN CLAIMS

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2005-2006, the sums stipulated to pay the claims of the

following:

     Senator Daniel DaPonte

     The sum of $117.49 to pay the claim of Viriato Ferreria of 111 Greenwood Avenue,

Rumford, Rhode Island 02916 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 114 southbound and Centre Street, in the city of East Providence on or before January

9, 2005;

     Senator Charles J. Levesque

     The sum of $549.87 to pay the claim of Deborah A. Cardoza of 99 Summit Road,

Portsmouth, Rhode Island 02871 for damages to her vehicle when it struck highway debris at or

near Route 24 northbound and Hummocks Road, in the town of Portsmouth on or about June 30,

2004;

     Senator Daniel P. Connors

     The sum of $127.67 to pay the claim of Mary DiGregorio of 14 Lockwood Road,

Cumberland, Rhode Island 02864 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at

or near Route 117 northbound, just before Route 95 overpass in the city of Warwick, on or about

April 1, 2004;

     Senator David E. Bates

     The sum of $550.39 to pay the claim of Candice Garabedian of 106 Martin Street,

Pawtucket, Rhode Island 02861 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Route 114 southbound and Centre Street, in the city of East Providence, on or about January

9, 2005;

     Senator Paul W. Fogarty

     The sum of $750.00 to pay the claim of Judith Grant of 55 Pray Hill Road, Chepachet,

Rhode Island 02814 for damages to her vehicle when it was struck by a deer at or near Snake Hill

Road and Cranberry Ridge Road in the town of Glocester, on or about November 9, 2004;

     Senator David E. Bates

     The sum of $474.80 to pay the claim of Robert Heinl of 15 Oak Manor Drive,

Barrington, Rhode Island 02806 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or

near 62 Massasoit Avenue, eastbound in the town of Barrington, on or about September 19, 2004;

     Senator Michael J. Damiani

     The sum of $822.70 to pay the claim of Anneliese Mayer of 84 Ridge Road, Smithfield,

Rhode Island 02917 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or near North

Main Street and Olney Street, in the city of Providence, on or about November 16, 2003;

     Senator Stephen D. Alves

     The sum of $488.98 to pay the claim of Carleen A. Mowrey of 18 Pepin Street, #C1,

West Warwick, Rhode Island 02893 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway defect

at or near Centerville Road and Inskip Blvd., in the city of Warwick, on or about October 26,

2004;

     Senator V. Susan Sosnowski

     The sum of $512.43 to pay the claim of Walter J. Pilz of 43 Atlantic Street, South

Kingstown, Rhode Island 02880 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or

near Route 4 northbound and Exit 5, in the town of North Kingstown, on or about April 24, 2005;

     Senator Dominick J. Ruggerio

     The sum of $258.20 to pay the claim of Ivone Rodrigues of 60 Nahant Street, Providence,

Rhode Island 02904 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route

122, northbound and Capital Street, in the city of Pawtucket, on or about February 25, 2005;

     Senator Joseph A. Montalbano

     The sum of $1,269.35 to pay the claim of Patricia A. Russo of 4 Meggan Court, West

Warwick, Rhode Island 02893 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or

near 30 Veterans Memorial Parkway and 56 First Street in the city of East Providence on or about

May 20, 2004;

     Senator Dominick J. Ruggerio

     The sum of $1,500 to pay the claim of Royford Charles and Danyelle Charles of 69

Russo Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02904 for damages they sustained as a result of the

negligence of the Secretary of State's office on March 24, 2005 when they accepted articles of

incorporation for Royford Charles and Danyelle Charles, and then notified them on May 18, 2005

that their corporations division had erred on the name availability search and that re-filing was

necessary requiring said corporation unnecessary start-up expenditures;

     Senator Daniel P. Connors

     The sum of $168.25 to pay the claim of Margaret M. Cotterall-Wild of 129 Terrace

Avenue, Cumberland, Rhode Island 02864 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway

defect at or near Nate Whipple Highway and Staples Road in the town of Cumberland, on or

about May 28, 2005; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders

upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sums.
