S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND EXEMPT RHODE ISLAND'S CITIES AND TOWNS FROM PAYING ALL FUEL TAXES

     WHEREAS, All Rhode Island Municipal Governments, in accordance with section 44-

18-30 of the Rhode Island General Laws, are exempt from the burden of the Rhode Island sales

tax; and

     WHEREAS, However, the State of Rhode Island does collect a variety of motor fuel

taxes from the cities and towns including the state fuel tax, state special excise tax, state special

spill tax, and the state underground storage fee; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby respectfully requests that the Governor of the State of Rhode Island exempt all of Rhode

Island's cities and towns from paying all fuel taxes; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Governor Donald L. Carcieri.
