S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY URGING NATIONAL GRID TO SEEK ELECTRIC RATE REDUCTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC UTILITY COMMISSION

     

     

     Introduced By: Senators Gibbs, Breene, Blais, and Bates

     WHEREAS, Fuel level costs are at historic highs; and

     WHEREAS, The resulting impact on thousands of Rhode Island families has been

profoundly negative, often forcing these families to make difficult choices between basic life

necessities; and

     WHEREAS, The income of the average Rhode Island family is not keeping pace with

these staggering increases in their everyday expenditures; and

     WHEREAS, National Grid, which supplies electricity to Rhode Islanders, has sought

electric rate reductions from its regulators in Massachusetts and New Hampshire; now, therefore

be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby respectfully urges National Grid to seek electric rate reductions from the Rhode Island

Public Utilities Commission; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Public Utilities Commission.
