H O U S E  R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING THE NAMING OF "DUCHARME POND"

IN HONOR OF RONALD DUCHARME

     

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Pacheco, and Church

     Date Introduced: May 18, 2006

 

 

     WHEREAS, In the early 1950s the Army Corps of Engineers constructed a trout fishing

pond on the grounds of Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club in Harrisville, Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, The Department of Environmental Management has annually stocked the

trout pond for the advantage of young people from the surrounding community; and

     WHEREAS, The Club has sponsored many enjoyable weekend fishing derbies to benefit

local youth, with one weekend dedicated to special needs children; and

     WHEREAS, One of the people most responsible for the development and annual events

at the pond has been Mr. Ronald Ducharme, a true gentleman and a valued member of the

community; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby officially recognizes the naming of the trout fishing pond, located

on the grounds of the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club, as "Ducharme Pond" in honor of Mr.

Ronald Ducharme. This fitting tribute will serve as a permanent reminder of his spirit of

community and generosity; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Ronald Ducharme.
