A N A C T

RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES AND CARRIERS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 39-3 of the General Laws entitled "Regulatory Powers of

Administration" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

39-3-44. Payment of public utility bills. -- All bills issued by a public utility as defined

in section 39-1-2 shall be deemed paid upon the receipt of sufficient funds by an agent of the

public utility authorized to accept such payment.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2008.
