S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF A  NEW FIRE ACADEMY

     

     

     Introduced By: Senators Tassoni, Sosnowski, Paiva-Weed, and Algiere

     WHEREAS, Five years ago in the 2002 general election, the Rhode Island voters

approved a 6.4 million dollar bond issue to build a Fire Academy; and

     WHEREAS, As of February of 2007, a new Fire Academy has yet to be built, and it

doesn't appear that much progress has been made toward the construction of a new facility. It is

vitally important that top priority be given to building a new Fire Academy; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby urges the Department of Administration to begin construction of a new fire academy, as

approved by the Rhode Island voters in the 2002 general election, forthwith; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Donald L. Carcieri, Governor of

the State of Rhode Island, and the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Administration.
