J O I N T  R E S O L U T I O N

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PAY CERTAIN CLAIMS

     

     

     Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, Maselli, Algiere, C Levesque, and Bates

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2007 – 2008, the sums stipulated to pay the claims of

the following:

     Senator Frank A. Ciccone, III

     The sum of $1,475.53 to pay the claim of Government Employees Insurance Co., One

Geico Blvd., Fredericksburg, VA 22412 as subrogee of Linda Blackburn, of 336 Killingly Street,

Apt. 7, Providence, Rhode Island 02909 for damages to their insured's vehicle when it was struck

by cascading snow falling on claimant's car, from a snow plowing/removal procedure on the

Route 6 eastbound overpass, by state employees, while claimant was traveling northbound on

Killingly Street, in the town of Johnston on or about December 9, 2005;

     Senator David E. Bates

     The sum of $382.95 to pay the claim of Harry Friedmann, of 6 Puritan Drive, Barrington,

Rhode Island 02806 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near New

Meadow and Linden Road in the town of Barrington on or about June 7, 2004;

     Senator Christopher B. Maselli

     The sum of $389.75 to pay the claim of Anthony C. Marsella, of 37 Lincoln Drive,

Johnston, Rhode Island 02919 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or

near Hartford Avenue and Reservoir Avenue westbound in the town of Johnston on or about

October 16, 2005;

     Senator Leo R. Blais

     The sum of $317.26 to pay the claim of Warren Fischer, of 6 Catalpa Way, Coventry,

Rhode Island 02816 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near 912

Tiogue Avenue in the town of Coventry on or about June 1, 2005;

     Senator Charles J. Levesque

     The sum of $2,300.00 to pay the claim of Mildred Garceau, of 76 Cliff Avenue,

Portsmouth, Rhode Island 02871 for damages to her floatation dock and rockway pier alleged to

have occurred when railroad timbers disengaged from the Sakonnet River Railroad Swing Bridge

fender, and followed the current of the river southerly and rammed said deck and pier in the

Tiverton Basin, at or near 76 Cliff Avenue in the town of Portsmouth on or about January 22,

2005;

     Senator Kevin A. Breene

     The sum of $678.06 to pay the claim of Exeter Rescue Corps, Inc., P.O. Box 333 Exeter,

Rhode Island 02822 for damages to their rescue vehicle when it was struck by cascading snow

and ice falling on the claimant's vehicle from a snow removal procedure on Devil's Foot

Overpass, by state employees, while claimant was traveling on Route 4, northbound in the town

of North Kingstown on or about December 9, 2005;

     Senator Frank A. Ciccone, III

     The sum of $2,200.00 to pay the claim of Gem C. Rastelli, of 42 Belcourt Avenue, North

Providence, Rhode Island 02911 for damages to his trailer when it collided with low hanging

branches when claimant Rastelli allegedly was directed to a picnic site, other than the site that

was reserved in the claimant's name, at or near Goddard Memorial State Park, Warwick, Rhode

Island on or about August 14, 2005;

     Senator V. Susan Sosnowski

     The sum of $950.00 to pay the claim of Domenic J. Penta, Jr., of 500 Old Boston Neck

Road, Narragansett, Rhode Island 02882 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by a

collapsing tree at or near 345 Main Street, Route 1, Wakefield on or about December 9, 2005;

     Senator Juan M. Pichardo

     The sum of $190.83 to pay the claim of Marie E. Marcil, of 11 Grand Street, Providence,

Rhode Island 02907 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or near Route

10 and the Route 6 southbound connector, in the city of Providence, on or about April 13, 2006;

     Senator Dennis L. Algiere

     The sum of $674.38 to pay the claim of Julia Anne Slom, of 274 North Niantic Drive,

Charlestown, Rhode Island 02813 for damages to her vehicle when it was struck by a highway

light fixture which had fallen from a State of Rhode Island vehicle at or near Route 95

northbound between exit 15 and exit 16, in the city of Cranston on or about May 31, 2006;

     Senator John C. Revens, Jr.

     The sum of $151.41 to pay the claim of Judith Tallo, of 6 Starling Way, West Warwick,

Rhode Island 02893 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route

95 northbound and the Branch Avenue exit in the city of Providence on or about June 7, 2006;

     Senator Joshua B. Miller

     The sum of $413.00 to pay the claim of Tomas E. Ramirez, of 39 Mallory Court,

Cranston, Rhode Island 02910 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a roadway defect at or

near Route 10 northbound and Park Avenue in the city of Cranston on or about May 19, 2006;

and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the general

treasurer for the payment of said sums.
