S E N A T E  R E S O L U T I O N

PROCLAIMING MAY 18TH OF 2007 TO BE "HUGH B. BAIN MIDDLE SCHOOL DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     

     

     Introduced By: Senators Lanzi, Gallo, and Miller

     WHEREAS, The Hugh B. Bain Middle School is a public facility located in Cranston,

Rhode Island. Comprised of grades 6th through 8th, the school has a current enrollment of around

seven hundred and fifty students; and

     WHEREAS, The mission of the Hugh B. Bain Middle School is "to create an educational

environment that prepares students to become life-long learners, responsible citizens, and

productive workers"; and

     WHEREAS, Since first opening its doors in 1930, the Hugh B. Bain Middle School has

compiled a seventy-seven year tradition of academic rigor, coupled with an unwavering

commitment to instilling in its pupils all of the traits essential to the development of character,

citizenship and scholarship; and

     WHEREAS, The Department of Education for the State of Rhode Island, in conjunction

with the United States Department of Education's "No Child Left Behind Act" for the 2006-2007

school year, has named and commended the Hugh B. Bain Middle School for attaining the rating

of "High Performing School"; and

     WHEREAS, The accomplishments and strides demonstrated by the award of the "High

Performing" designation has made a positive impact on the educational experience of the young

people of the Hugh B. Bain Middle School that will be felt for many years to come; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby proclaims May 18th of 2007 to be "Hugh B. Bain Middle School Day" in the State of

Rhode Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this Senate thanks the Administration and Staff of Hugh B. Bain

Middle School for their uncompromising dedication to excellence in education, and their

devotion to the well being of thousands of young people; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Thomas A. Barbieri, Principal of the Hugh B.

Bain Middle School.
