A N A C T

AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD TO ESTABLISH BY ORDINANCE A TAX EXEMPTION FOR REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE GRODEN CENTER, INC., LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

 

     SECTION 1. The town council of the town of Smithfield may, by ordinance, partially or

fully exempt from taxation any personal and/or real property situated in the town and owned by

the Groden Center, Inc. The exemption, if adopted by the town of Smithfield, may be retroactive

to December 31, 2007. The town of Smithfield may impose any conditions or other requirements

for said exemption of taxation upon the Groden Center, Inc., upon its dissolution as a nonprofit

corporation or upon fulfillment of its chartered purpose.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. If the exemption is adopted and

passed, it may be made retroactive to December 31, 2007.
