A N A C T

RELATING TO AN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

AT ITS FEBRUARY SESSION, 1814, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO INCORPORATE JOHN S.

DEXTER, DANIEL LYMAN, SAMUEL SNOW, AND OTHERS, INTO A SOCIETY BY THE

NAME OF THE SOCIETY OF CINCINNATI IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AND

PROVIDENCE PLANTATIONS" AND OF ALL ACTS IN AMENDMENTS THEREOF

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

 

     SECTION 1.An act entitled “An act to incorporate John S. Dexter, Daniel Lyman,

Samuel Snow, and others into society by the name of the society of Cincinnati in the State of

Rhode Island and Providence Plantations” as heretofore amended, is hereby further amended by

adding the following as Section 4: “Section 4. Upon the dissolution of The Society of Cincinnati

in the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, assets shall be distributed for one or

more exempt purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or

corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the federal

government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose.”

 

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
