A N A C T

IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT RELATING TO ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 2 of "An Act Authorizing Roger Williams University to receive,

take, hold, transmit and convey real and personal property of a total value not to exceed three

million dollars ($3,000,000)", passed at the January session, A.D. 1961, as amended by an act of

the general assembly at its January session A.D. 1978, its January session, A.D. 1988, and its

January session A.D. 1994, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

     Section 2. To the extent only of one hundred million dollars ($100,000,000) in total value

thereof the The real and personal estate so received, taken, held, transmitted and conveyed shall

be exempt from taxation by any town or city in the state of Rhode Island so long as said property

shall be used for the purposes decried in the articles of association of said corporation and so long

as the same shall be used for the purposes of said corporation. Provided, however that

notwithstanding this exemption, Roger Williams University and the town of Bristol may enter

into a memorandum of understanding.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage, and all acts and parts of acts

inconsistent are hereby repealed.
