HONORING
REPRESENTATIVE PETER T. GINAITT FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF
RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS,
The Honorable Peter T. Ginaitt graduated from Warwick Veterans High
School
and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Resource Development from the University of
Rhode
Island
in 1983. In 1987, he attained his A.S. in Fire Science and in 1995, earned an
A.S. in
Nursing
from the Community College of Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS,
Peter is married to his lovely wife Sharon, and is the proud father of two
children,
Bradford Thomas and Taylor Anne. He is a retired fire captain and has assumed
the
duties
of Director of Emergency Preparedness for Lifespan hospital network, a title he
held with
Rhode
Island Hospital for the past four years; and
WHEREAS,
In March of 1992, the Honorable Peter T. Ginaitt was elected to the Rhode
Island
House of Representatives from District 33, which later became District 22,
encompassing
Warwick
Neck, Bayside and parts of the Oakland Beach neighborhood in the City of
Warwick;
and
WHEREAS,
For more than fifteen years, the Honorable Peter Ginaitt has represented the
citizens
of Rhode Island with distinction and integrity, earning the admiration of his
colleagues
and
the gratitude of his constituents. He served more than a decade as Chairman of
the House
Committee
on Environment and Natural Resources and was Vice Chair of the Committee on
Health,
Education and Welfare; and
WHEREAS,
As a tireless advocate for his constituency, Representative Ginaitt has been
outspoken
on many causes. He was instrumental in enacting legislation that allowed for
the
dredging
of Narragansett Bay, banning mercury from Rhode Island products, and lowering
the
blood
alcohol level to .08 for determining violations of drunk driving laws; and
WHEREAS,
In his capacity as a Warwick Fire Department veteran, Peter was one of the
first
to respond to the tragic 2003 Station nightclub fire. Peter later dedicated
countless hours at
the
State House, working to amend the state’s fire code to insure that the events
of the
heartrending
evening would never be repeated; and
WHEREAS,
In addition to his family, professional obligations and hectic State House
schedule,
Peter is also a member of the Warwick Lodge of Elks #2196, the Scottish Rite,
the F.A.
&
A.M. Lodge 45 Nathaniel Greene, and the International Association of
Firefighters. He has
also
been a member of the NCSL Forum on Health Care and the Long Term Care
Coordinating
Council;
and
WHEREAS,
Representative Ginaitt has touched the lives of so many people through his
diligent
efforts and with the legislation he has fought to enact. He is truly an
extraordinary man,
who
serves as a model of dedicated and conscientious civic service, and he is
eminently worthy
of
our gratitude and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
Providence
Plantations hereby honors Representative Peter T. Ginaitt as he concludes his
service
in
the Rhode Island General Assembly. We thank him for a job well done, and extend
our sincere
wishes
for his continued success, health, and happiness; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit
a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Peter T. Ginaitt.
