WELCOMING THE
INDONESIAN POLITICAL LEADERS DELEGATION AND MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN COUNCIL OF
YOUNG POLITICAL LEADERS TO THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS,
The American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) is a non-profit,
bipartisan
organization, founded in 1966 to foster "relations between the next
generation of
political
leaders in the United States and their counterparts around the world"; and
WHEREAS,
This year, the ACYPL is hosting a delegation from Indonesia on a political
study
tour of Washington, D.C., Rhode Island, and Nebraska; and
WHEREAS,
Indonesia's Delegation visiting Rhode Island includes Mr. Abdurrahman
Abubakar,
Chairman of the Gorontalo Province Prosperous Justice Party, Mr. Arif Noor
Hartanto,
Chairman of the Yogyakarta City House of Representatives and member of the
National
Mandate Party, Mr. Teguh Juwarno, Vice Secretary General of the National
Mandate
Party,
Ms. Tursiana Setyohapsari, Chairperson of the United Democratic Nationhood
Party, Ms.
Dewa
Ayu Putu Sriwiguna Wati, Deputy Chairperson of the Bali Province Golkar Party,
Ms. Esti
Wijayati,
Member of the Special Province of Yogyakarta House of Representatives and of
the
Indonesian
Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Faction, and Mr. Munawar Liza Zainal, Mayor
of
Sabang City, Aceh Province and of the Free Aceh Movement; and
WHEREAS,
This political study program is funded in part by a grant from the United
States
Department of State, in order to encourage "participants to learn
diplomatic skills, engage
in
dialogue on bilateral issues, and forge professional relationships through the
unique access they
receive
from the political leadership of the nation they visit"; now, therefore be
it
RESOLVED,
That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
hereby
welcomes Indonesia's Delegation of Young Political Leaders to our beautiful
Ocean State.
We
sincerely hope our mutual participation in this wonderful program will foster
stronger ties
between
our future leaders and our countries; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit
a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Indonesian Political Leaders
Delegation.
