H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
RENAMING, AMENDING
AND EXTENDING THE REPORTING AND EXPIRATION DATES OF A SPECIAL HOUSE COMMISSION
TO REVIEW THE PROPOSAL TO MERGE LIFESPAN AND CARE NEW ENGLAND

RESOLVED,
That the special house commission created by resolution No. 23 passed by
the
House of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2008, and approved
January 3, 2008,
entitled
"House Resolution Creating a Special House Commission To Review The
Proposal To
Merge
Lifespan and Care New England" is hereby renamed the "Special House
Commission To
Review
The Proposal To Merge Lifespan, Care New England, and Other Hospitals";
and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the purpose of said commission is hereby amended as follows: to
review
proposals regarding hospital mergers in the state including, but not limited
to, Lifespan
and
Care New England, with an analysis of issues pertaining to the potential
destabilization of
healthcare
access and the economic implications of mergers; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That said commission created by resolution No. 23 passed by the House of
Representatives
at its January session, A.D. 2008, and approved January 3, 2008 entitled,
"House
Resolution
Creating A Special House Commission To Review The Proposal To Merge Lifespan
and
Care New England" is hereby authorized to continue its study and make a
report to the House
of
Representatives on or before March 18, 2010, and said commission shall expire
on June 18,
2010;
and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 23 passed by the
House
of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2008, and approved January 3,
2008, be and
the
same are hereby rescinded.
