A N A C T

RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- BLOOD BANK SERVICES

          

     Introduced By: Senators Goodwin, Paiva-Weed, Sosnowski, and Perry

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

 

     SECTION 1. Section 23-4.5-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 23-4.5 entitled "Blood

Bank Services" is hereby amended to read as follows:

 

     23-4.5-1. Blood donations by persons seventeen (17) or over Blood donations by

minors. -- Any person of the age of seventeen (17) or over shall be eligible to donate blood in

any voluntary and non-compensatory blood program without the necessity of obtaining parental

permission or authorization of his/her parent or guardian. Any person sixteen (16) years of age

may donate his or her blood upon obtaining prior permission of his or her parent or guardian.

 

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
