H O U S E  R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND, AMEND ITS CHARTER IN ORDER TO CHANGE ITS FISCAL YEAR FROM JULY 1 THROUGH JUNE 30 TO OCTOBER 1 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30

     WHEREAS, Since the Rhode Island fiscal year is from July 1 through June 30, moving

the Woonsocket fiscal year from July 1 through June 30 to October 1 through September 30

would provide for a more efficient budgetary planning process. It would allow the Mayor and

members of the City Council to thoroughly review the state budget as it pertained to Woonsocket,

and city leaders would have the proper time to respond to any state budget changes that would

impact Woonsocket; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests that the City of Woonsocket, Rhode Island

consider amending its charter in order to change its fiscal year from July 1 through June 30 to

October 1 through September 30; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Mayor of the City of Woonsocket and the

members of the Woonsocket City Council.
