EXCISE TAX PAYMENT TO
TOWNS AND FIRE
DISTRICTS

WHEREAS, House Bill
5983/Sub A, as amended, was signed into law on June 30th of
2009 by the Governor of the State of
WHEREAS, Article 1 of
House Bill 5983/Sub A, as amended, entitled “Making
Appropriations in Support in FY 2010,” page 3,
authorizes a “Motor Vehicle Excise Tax
Payment” of $135,306,888 to
WHEREAS, On February 1,
2010, the third quarter payment was due. To date, the
Governor has yet to release those allocated funds to
districts; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That this House of Representatives of the State of
Providence Plantations
hereby respectfully requests Governor Donald Carcieri
to immediately
adhere to the enacted FY 2010 Budget and reimburse
districts for the third quarter vehicle excise tax; and be it
further
RESOLVED,
That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The
Honorable Donald Carcieri, Governor of
the State of
