WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle.

Strenuous physical hurdles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable

spirit, and a commitment to community service are a rare combination of qualities and

achievements to find in one person. Greg Niguidula is just such an extraordinary young man and

his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; and

WHEREAS, In spite of peer pressure and other influences, there are those teenagers who

rise to the challenge. Greg is a member of Troop 6 in Barrington. He has held several leadership

positions including Senior Patrol Leader, and has demonstrated wide-ranging abilities, effective

skills, and the kind of self confidence that makes him a worthy leader; and

WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Greg earned twenty-nine

merit badges and as the highlight of his scouting years, he completed the final step toward

obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout by planning and carrying out an extensive Eagle service

project; and

WHEREAS, Greg’s Eagle Project was to take on the challenge of identifying and

removing invasive plants from the Sowam Woods hiking trails. He carried out this ecologically

noble task with forethought and determination, thus furnishing an assortment of natural fauna

with some room to flourish, and also providing the community with a more scenic vista; and

WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout requires considerable perseverance and is

considered to be the pinnacle of achievement with the Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional

distinction achieved by only five percent of all young men who enter scouting; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, Greg is an honors student at Barrington

High School, and is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council, and the track

team. He also enjoys white water rafting and camping; and

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Greg Niguidula is a remarkable young man

who exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow

to be; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors Gregory Niguidula for his untiring service to the
