S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING CHRISTOPHER PATRICK CARCHIA UPON ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all

the young men who enter scouting; and

     WHEREAS, Christopher Patrick Carchia is a remarkable young man worthy of this

prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and

     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Christopher earned thirty-two

merit badges, eleven more than the required twenty-one. Serving in leadership positions in Troop

101, Foster, including Patrol Leader and Instructor, Christopher also earned several special

awards, such as the Junior Leader Training Award, the World Conservation Award, and the Ad

Altare Dei Award for Roman Catholic Scouts. In addition, he is a seven-year veteran of

Yawgoog Scout Reservation, earning the Bronze, Gold, and Silver CY; and

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward

obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Christopher Patrick Carchia planned and carried out an

extensive Eagle Scout service project. Christopher and his fellow scouts stained a bridge at the

Cross Country Track located at Ponaganset High School. Christopher devoted countless hours

and an amazing amount of energy carrying out his project for the benefit of the community and

visitors; and

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Christopher Patrick Carchia exemplifies

everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby honors Christopher Patrick Carchia for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle within

the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island extends our deepest

appreciation to Christopher Patrick Carchia for his untiring service to the community and for

setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which the youth of this great state may

follow. We proffer our very best wishes for good health and happiness in the months and years

ahead; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Christopher Patrick Carchia.
