H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING REPRESENTATIVE TIMOTHY A. WILLIAMSON FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Timothy A. Williamson, Representative for District 25 of

the Rhode Island House of Representatives, is stepping down at the end of the 2010 legislative

year; and

      WHEREAS, A graduate of West Warwick High School, Representative Williamson

attended Rhode Island College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree, and Creighton Law

School, where he attained his Juris Doctor. He is married to MaryAnne Williamson and is the

father of two children, Connor and Avery; and

     WHEREAS, On November 3rd of 1992, a few years after graduating from law school and

passing the Rhode Island Bar Exam, The Honorable Tim Williamson was elected to represent the

citizens of portions of West Warwick and Coventry; and

     WHEREAS, Over the course of Representative Williamson’s tenure in the General

Assembly, his diligence and tenacity earned him the respect of his peers and the loyalty of his

constituents. He was named Senior Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, and

serves as the Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Judiciary and the House Committee

on Separation of Powers. He is also a member of the House Committee on Rules and the Joint

Committee on Highway Safety; and

     WHEREAS, For more than two years, Representative Williamson chaired the Special

House Committee to Study All Aspects of the State Pension and Retirement System. Working

thoroughly and meticulously, the committee produced a series of recommendations that

ultimately resulted in legislation that will save taxpayers of the state millions of dollars; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Williamson worked as the Assistant Town Solicitor in West

Warwick from 1992 until 1994, and is currently serving as the town’s Solicitor, a position he has

held since 2001; and

     WHEREAS, Dedicated to his constituency and to the best interests of the Town of West

Warwick, Representative Williamson championed both the efforts and the legislation to open the

door for a casino to be built in West Warwick’s industrial park; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to the long hours devoted to the State House, his family, and his

professional responsibilities, Representative Williamson has been involved with numerous

organizations, including the Governor’s Justice Commission; Club Frontenac; Crompton

Veterans Organization; The American, Rhode Island, and Kent County Bar Associations; The

American Trial Lawyers Association; The West Warwick Democratic Town Committee; The

West Warwick Lions; The West Warwick Cal Ripken League; and the West Warwick Soccer

Association; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Williamson has improved the lives of so many people

through his diligent efforts on behalf of his constituency and the citizens of this state, and he will

be greatly missed in the House Chamber; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our sincere gratitude to Representative Timothy A.

Williamson as he concludes his service in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. We thank

him for a job well done, and extend our sincere wishes for his continued health, happiness, and

success; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The Honorable Timothy Williamson.
