A N A C T

APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND

TRAINING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated from the Unemployment Compensation

Modernization Incentive Payments made available to this state under Section 903(f) of the Social

Security Act, as amended, the sum of one million nine hundred thousand dollars ($1,900,000) to

be used under the direction of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training solely for the

administration of the state's unemployment compensation law from January 1, 2011 to June 30,

2011.

SECTION 2. The amount appropriated pursuant to this act during any fiscal year

beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30 shall not exceed, at any such time, the amount by

which the aggregate of the amounts transferred to the account of this state pursuant to subsections

(a) and (b) of section 903 of the Social Security Act exceeds the aggregate of the amounts used by

this state pursuant to these subsections and charged against the amounts transferred to the account

of this state. The amounts used by this state for administration of its unemployment compensation

law shall be chargeable against transferred amounts at the exact time the obligation is entered

into. The appropriation, obligation, and expenditure or other disposition of money appropriated

under this subsection shall be accounted for in accordance with the standards established by the

United States Secretary of Labor.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
