H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 15, 2012, AS "RHODE ISLAND MINORITY CONTRACTORS

ASSOCIATION DAY"

     

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Costa, Ehrhardt, and Hull

     WHEREAS, The need for minority business to unify, collaborate, and become one entity

is more imperative now than ever before; and

     WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Minority Contractors Association strives to reduce and

remove barriers to full equality, helping to bring about wider procurement and increased business

opportunities for members and minority contractors everywhere; and

     WHEREAS, The spirit of unity and collective voice are the shared beliefs upon which the

Rhode Island Minority Contractors Association promotes the economic and legal interests of

minority contracting firms; and

     WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Minority Contractors Association sets an example for the

people of Rhode Island through its mission of “collaboration, not competition,” and by urging

that their communities collaborate on projects to benefit all citizens; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby encourages and applauds the efforts of the Rhode Island Minority

Contractors Association, its affiliations, and its mission, as it provides a forum for sharing

information and mutual support; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this House hereby recognizes February 15, 2012, as “Rhode Island

Minority Contractors Association Day,” and urges all citizens to join in the celebration of the

profound effect that minority owned companies have had, and will have in the future, in the State

of Rhode Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Tracey McHue of the Rhode Island Minority

Contractors Association.
