S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

PROCLAIMING MARCH 20TH AS "PANDA GIRL RESPECT FOR LIVING THINGS DAY"

     WHEREAS, Animals may not always understand people’s underlying needs for comfort

and affection, but they never hesitate to provide an encouraging, gentle presence; and

     WHEREAS, Panda Girl, a twelve year-old dog, has interacted with thousands of

schoolchildren and adults as a tireless therapy working dog; and

     WHEREAS, The beauty and magic of the human-animal companion bond and the

unconditional love between a pet and a person can go a long way toward building a friendlier and

more peaceful world for all living things; and

     WHEREAS, Our four-legged friends enrich our lives, our families, and our society; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby proclaims March 20th to be known in perpetuity as “Panda Girl Respect for Living Things

Day” in the State of Rhode Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Pearl Salotto.
