     WHEREAS, There are some people you meet in life who stand out as a result of the

principles they hold dear, their strength of character, and the actions by which they demonstrate

their concern for the world around them. Gertrude Rondeau is this kind of an exceptional person;

wonderful son, Gertrude consistently modeled an exuberance for life that was infectious. As she

continued to strive -- in ways both big and small -- to make their community a better, more loving

place; and

     WHEREAS, All who have known Gertrude have admired her for her charitable

disposition, friendly demeanor, cheerful attitude, and willingness to always help a loved one,

friend, or colleague in need. Now the matriarch of a close family, she serves as an inspiration for

subsequent generations to carry on her legacy of compassion, determination, and selflessness;

now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby declares June 10, 2013, as Gertrude "Memere" Rondeau Day in

the State of Rhode Island. May we all strive to emulate Gertrude’s example on this and every day;

and be it further
