expand our culture for future generations; and

WHEREAS, Fifty years ago on March 21st of 1963, a group of forward-thinking

a creative and socially important setting for theater and the arts, but has also produced significant

and ongoing economic benefits to our state; and

WHEREAS, Trinity Rep presents a balance of world premiere, contemporary, and classic

work and is an educational resource for tens of thousands of Rhode Island's students each year.

In addition, it is a cultural leader and incubator for other local theater companies, as well as a

material resource for the production of theater across the state; and

art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of

what it is to be a human being"; now, therefore be it
