S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

COMMEMORATING THE ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OAKLAND BEACH VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, STATION 3

     WHEREAS, This Senate is proud to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the founding

of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company, now known as Station 3; and

      WHEREAS, The work of volunteer firefighters is an integral part of community

protection services in every locality of our State. Over the past 100 years, generations of

courageous firefighters of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company have valiantly responded

to all types of emergencies and have won the praise and respect of the community they serve; and

     WHEREAS, The record of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company in public service

and fire protection is one to be envied. For 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and for 100 years,

whenever the alarm has sounded, these noble volunteers have left the safety of their homes to aid

their neighbors; and

      WHEREAS, In addition to the skill and devoted service demonstrated by individual

volunteer firefighters, the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company as an organization has

proactively sought to incorporate advances in firefighting throughout its history; and

      WHEREAS, We cannot express sufficient gratitude to those organizations and their

corps of devoted volunteers who recognize that the preservation of life and property is a sacred

responsibility and who make that responsibility their own; now, therefore be it

      RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby recognizes those who work so tirelessly for the betterment of their communities and

acknowledges the century of heroic good works performed by the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire

Company, Station 3; and be it further

      RESOLVED, That this Senate proudly commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the

founding of Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Station 3; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Oakland Beach Station 3 Fire Department.
