S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

PROCLAIMING MAY 21ST OF 2014, TO BE "WORLD TRADE DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND"

WHEREAS, Businesses, manufacturers, and regional partners will gather on May 21st of 2014, to officially celebrate World Trade Day with programs and events designed to initiate the sharing of ideas, learning, and to inspire each other and stimulate our business climate; and

 WHEREAS, The 2014 World Trade Day will focus on "Back to the USA – Partnering for Global Success" and is presented by the John H. Chafee Center for Business at Bryant University; and

WHEREAS, Group discussions, led by industry leaders, as well as seminars on a panoply of subjects including growing your business, discovering new and available avenues to navigate successful enterprises, and the accessibility of local resources will be presented; and

WHEREAS, The ultimate goal of World Trade Day is to build and encourage trade avenues that will spur "sustainable growth" for Rhode Island and New England businesses and ultimately galvanize the health and vitality of our state's economy; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and proclaims Wednesday, May 21st of 2014, to be "World Trade Day" in the state; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Cheryl Merchant, CEO, Hope Global; Chairperson of World Trade Day 2014.
