J O I N T   R E S O L U T I O N

 

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING RHODE ISLAND EMPLOYERS TO PROVIDE THEIR EMPLOYEES WHO ARE VETERANS WITH TIME OFF ON VETERANS' DAY

                   

                   Introduced By: Senators Felag, Pichardo, Lombardi, Walaska, and McCaffrey

                   WHEREAS, Veterans' Day has been set aside to honor the men and women who have

              served in our country's Armed Forces; and

                   WHEREAS, Rhode Islanders greatly value the service to our country and state given by

              veterans; and

                   WHEREAS, Veterans should be honored and thanked in a public way on Veterans' Day;

              now, therefore be it

                   RESOLVED, That this General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island and Providence

              Plantations hereby respectfully requests that employers in the state give special consideration to

              any veteran in their employ and grant to them time off on the day on which Veterans' Day is

              observed; and be it further

                   RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

              transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Governor of the State of Rhode Island and

              the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training
