JOYOUSLY CELEBRATING THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICE CREAM MACHINE

Introduced By: Senators Picard, and Pearson
Date Introduced: May 11, 2017

WHEREAS, The Ice Cream Machine ice cream parlor, located on Diamond Hill Road, in
Cumberland, Rhode Island, was founded in 1977, and in 2017 will be celebrating 40 years of
operation; and
WHEREAS, The circumstances surrounding the founding of the Ice Cream Machine give
testament to the enduring strength and perseverance of the American spirit. After being diagnosed
with Multiple Sclerosis, Russell Kisseberth decided to establish a family business that would
provide for his family after he no longer could. After being established in the humble abode of
Russell Kisseberth's home garage the business experienced immediate success; and
WHEREAS, The Ice Cream Machine was owned by Mr. Kisseberth from 1977 to 1985,
when he sold it to his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Gary Caron. As second generation
owners, they expanded operations, offering the same high-quality and delicious ice cream that
their customers had come to expect and love, while now boasting 76 different flavors of ice
cream; and
WHEREAS, The Ice Cream Machine has also expanded its operations to now serve as a
wholesale business, with multiple contracts that include leading distributors such as SYSCO; and
WHEREAS, The Ice Cream Machine is a beloved staple of the Rhode Island food
community. Last year, "Go Local Providence" rated the Ice Cream Machine as one of the top 20
ice cream parlors in Rhode Island; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
hereby congratulates Kim and Gary Caron on the 40 years of success enjoyed by The Ice Cream
Machine, and wishes them 40 more years of delighting our palates; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kim Caron.
