A N   A C T
RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - LICENSING OF HEALTH CARE FACILITIES - INFLUENZA IMMUNIZATION

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
     SECTION 1. Chapter 23-17 of the General Laws entitled "Licensing of Health-Care
Facilities" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
     23-17-64. Influenza immunization.
     Between October 1 and March 1 of each year, each hospital shall offer, prior to
discharge, immunizations against influenza virus to all inpatients sixty-five (65) years of age and
older, unless contraindicated, and contingent upon the availability of the vaccine, in accordance
with the latest recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
