A N   A C T

RELATING TO AMENDING THE CHARTER OF NORTH PROVIDENCE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Article 3 Chapter 1 of Chapter 237 of the 1973 Public Laws entitled "An

Act to Incorporate the Town of North Providence, as amended", is hereby further amended to

read as follows:

ARTICLE 3

MAYOR

CHAPTER 1

GENERAL PROVISIONS

3-1-3. Compensation

Beginning with the fiscal year commencing on July 1, 2005, a salary of seventy-five

thousand dollars ($75,000) per year shall be paid to the mayor For fiscal year 2020, a salary at the

rate of eighty-five thousand dollars ($85,000) per year, effective January 1, 2020, shall be paid to

the Mayor mayor. For fiscal year 2021, a salary at the rate of ninety-five thousand dollars

($95,000) per year, shall be paid to the Mayor mayor. Beginning with fiscal year 2022 and each

fiscal year thereafter, a salary of ($105,000.00) per year shall be paid to the Mayor mayor. As

part of the mayor's compensation package, the mayor shall contribute five percent (5%) of the

working rate of health care as a co-payment for the healthcare. The mayor shall be compensated

for all reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of his duties provided that,

within ten (10) days after he incurs such expenses he submits to the town treasurer vouchers

certifying the amount of the expenses and the reason therefor. (97-S 912, May 7, 1997; 2000-H

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
