S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N
PROCLAIMING MARCH 4, 2021, TO BE "NATIONAL HOSPITALIST DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Physician Hospitalists are guardians of patient safety in health care in
hospitals throughout the country and in Rhode Island, and on the front lines of the Covid-19
pandemic; and
     WHEREAS, Their many years of education and training prepare Physician Hospitalists to
navigate these life-and-death moments, transitioning from the emergency room to any department
in the hospital; and
     WHEREAS, Physician Hospitalists play a critical role in keeping patients safe in this
state and our local communities, whether they are caring for COVID-19 patients, or managing a
patient’s care in the hospital; and
     WHEREAS, Physician Hospitalists are recognized leaders who are committed to high
quality and safe patient care, educating patients on health and wellness and reducing risks of
complications before, during and after their visit to the hospital; now, therefore be it
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims March 4,
2021, to be “National Hospitalist Day” in Rhode Island and urges all Rhode Island citizens to join
them in recognizing the many Physician Hospitalists who have served as critical care specialists
during the pandemic and developed the techniques and protocols that have greatly improved the
safety and well-being of patients each and every day; and be it further
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Lifespan Physician Group Hospitalist
Program.
