H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N
CELEBRATING NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY ON JANUARY 9, 2022

     WHEREAS, Annually, across our nation on January 9th, we celebrate National Law
Enforcement Appreciation Day in honor of all the brave law enforcement professionals who work
diligently and tirelessly to protect the public and their property; and
     WHEREAS, Our dedicated law enforcement officers undergo rigorous training in order
to best serve and protect the residents of our state and the nation. Their responsibilities require an
abundance of physical strength, courage, and stamina, and an abiding and selfless concern for the
safety of others; and
     WHEREAS, These dedicated public servants always answer the call of duty and come to
the aid of those in need of assistance, regardless of the dangers they themselves may face and all
too often pay the ultimate price in order to protect us; now, therefore be it
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
celebrates National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on January 9, 2022, and honors and
thanks the brave men and women who sacrifice so much each day to serve and protect the public;
and be it further
     RESOLVED, That this House hereby urges all citizens to show and express their
appreciation for our law enforcement officers by wearing blue articles of clothing, sending cards
or writing letters of appreciation, and coordinating or participating in a Blue Blood Drive; and be
it further
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island State Lodge Fraternal Order
of Police.
