It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other general or special law to the contrary, Dennis M. Coleman of East Greenwich, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Rhode Island, may join Geoffrey D. Davis of Providence, Rhode Island and Lisa Samdperil of Cranston, Rhode Island in marriage, in Providence, Rhode Island, on December 21, 1996. Dennis M. Coleman is hereby authorized and empowered to join the foregoing persons in marriage pursuant to and in accordance with chapter 15-3 of the general laws, entitled "Solemnization of Marriages".

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and shall be retroactive to December 21, 1996.
