A N    A C T
RELATING TO THE TOWN OF NORTH PROVIDENCE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 3-1-3 in Chapter 1 of Article 3 of Chapter 237 of the Public Laws of 1973 entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Town of North Providence" is hereby amended to read as follows:

3-1-3. Compensation. -- A salary of {DEL $30,000 DEL} {ADD forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) ADD} per year shall be paid to the mayor.

{DEL The salary of the mayor shall not be increased or decreased during this term. The council may provide by ordinance for an increase or decrease not to exceed twenty percent for any term in the salary of the mayor provided such provision is made no later than the last day on which nomination papers must be filed for a primary election prior to the general election at which the successor mayor is to be elected. DEL}

The mayor shall be compensated for all reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of his duties provided that, within ten (10) days after he incurs such expenses{ADD , ADD} he submits to the town treasurer vouchers certifying the amount of the expenses and the reasons therefore.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
