H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

MEMORIALIZING CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED NATIONAL STANDARDS AS ESTABLISHED BY THE EPA

WHEREAS, The Clean Air Act directs the Environmental Protection Agency to identify and set national standards for pollutants which cause adverse effects to public health and the environment; and

WHEREAS, The Clean Air Act requires the Environmental Protection Agency to review the health and welfare based standards at least once every five years; and

WHEREAS, Pollution tends to be transmitted from West to East and Rhode Island has been subject to many of the toxins generated in the mid-West; and

WHEREAS, The new regulations will change the playing field and force the mid-West and other parts of the country to reform their methods of production for electricity and automobiles; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby memorializes the Congress of the United States to support the proposed national standards as established by the EPA; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island delegation in the Congress of the United States.
