RESOLVED, That the house of representatives hereby finds and declares that numerous vocational education studies have been completed which need to be addressed. The house of representatives further finds and declares that the economic development of this state is enhanced by vocational education programs which are compatible with current job opportunities, and that more interaction of such vocational education programs with the business sector is necessary to the economic development of this state.

RESOLVED, That a special house commission be and the same is hereby created consisting of seven (7) members; five (5) of whom shall be members of the house of representatives, appointed by the speaker; two (2) of whom shall be members of the house of representatives, appointed by the house minority leader.

Upon passage of this resolution, the members of the commission shall meet at the call of the speaker of the house to organize and select a chairperson. Thereafter, the commission shall from time to time hold meetings for the purpose of studying and making recommendations for implementation of reports prepared by the various departments of the state concerning vocational education.

All departments and agencies of the state shall furnish documentation and other information requested by the commission in order to carry out the purpose of said commission.

Members of said commission shall receive no compensation for their service.

The speaker of the house is hereby authorized and directed to provide suitable quarters for said commission; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the commission shall report its findings and recommendations to the general assembly on or before June 1, 1997, and said commission shall expire on July 31, 1997.
