H O U S E     R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF REGENTS FOR ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION SURVEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TO DETERMINE WHEN INSTRUCTION IN RHODE ISLAND HISTORY BEGINS

 

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests that the Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education direct the appropriate personnel within the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to survey the elementary schools in the State of Rhode Island to determine at what grade level instruction begins in Rhode Island history; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will investigate the feasibility of beginning the instruction of Rhode Island history in Grade 1, and will promote, in its content, a history curriculum which recognizes the influence of Rhode Island on the formation and development of the United States of America; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Chair of the Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education.
