A N A C T
RELATING TO THE BRISTOL AND WARREN GAS COMPANY
It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. An act entitled "An Act to Incorporate Bristol and Warren Gas Company" passed at the January session of the General assembly, A.D. 1953, as amended, is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
Sec. 8.1 Notwithstanding any provision of the general law or special act to the contrary, Bristol and Warren Gas Company shall have the power to merge with any other domestic or foreign corporation in a transaction in which the surviving corporation is a public utility as defined in section 39-1-2 of the general laws. Any such merger shall be carried out in accordance with, and subject to, the provisions of sections 7-1.1-65, 7-1.1-67, 7-1.1-68, 7-1.1-68.1, 7-1.1-69, 7-1.1-70, 7-1.1-73, and 7-1.1-74 of the Rhode Island Business Corporation Act, as the same may be amended from time to time, and shall be subject to review and approval by the division of public utilites and carriers, and
shall be effective upon compliance with said sections of the Business Corporation Act.SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
