RELATING TO THE BRADFORD FIRE DISTRICT

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 4 of an act passed at the January Session, 1937 entitled "An Act To Incorporate The Bradford Fire District" approved April 30, 1937, as amended, is further amended to read as follows:

Section 4. The said inhabitants of the district may elect a moderator, a clerk, a treasurer, three assessors of taxes, a collector of taxes and a board of engineers consisting of four members. Said inhabitants of the district may also elect any other supervisory official for any other service or special committee they deem necessary for the proper corporate purposes of the district. Such officers and committees may be elected at the first meeting of the district to hold office until the first annual meeting thereafter; and at such annual meeting and at each subsequent annual meeting of the district offices and committees may be elected in such manner and for such terms of office as may be described in the by-laws. Such offices and committees shall have duties and powers within said district as prescribed in the bylaws. Vacancies in any office may be filled at any annual meeting of the district, or at any special meeting called for that purpose. At the annual meeting of the district, the board of engineers shall be elected, two members to serve for three years, one to serve for two years and one to serve for one year, and thereafter each member so elected shall serve for a period of three years.

SECTION 2. The action of the acceptance or rejection of this act shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the Bradford Fire District, a vote shall be taken at the next annual meeting or special meeting duly called for such purpose. The District Clerk shall forthwith after said meeting, notify the Secretary of State of the results of the vote taken upon the question submitted.

SECTION 3. Section 2 of this act shall take effect upon passage of this act and the remainder of the act shall take effect upon the affirmative vote of the voters of the Bradford Fire District, and all acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed..
