URGING EVERY LICENSED HEALTH CARE FACILITY TO ESTABLISH AN AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS APPROVED CANCER PROGRAM

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby urges every licensed acute care hospital that treats cancer patients to establish an American College of Surgeons approved cancer program on or before January 1, 2002; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this House encourages all said acute care hospitals to report to the Director of the Department of Health by January 1, 2001 as to their compliance with American College of Surgeons standards for cancer programs and/or the progress in moving toward those standards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to every licensed acute care hospital in the state.
