RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO DEVELOP A BROCHURE REGARDING POTENTIAL DRUG SIDE EFFECTS

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests pediatric health care practitioners through the RI Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the RI Chapter of Family Practitioners to work with pharmacists and the Department of Health to develop an easy to read brochure in English and any other language which is endemic to the area it will be servicing that informs parents and guardians about potential drug side effects as well as general information relating to psychotropic drugs prescribed for children. Said brochures will be made available to the public through practitioners' offices, pharmacies and elementary and secondary schools; and be it further

RESOLVED, That said brochure shall be made available by January, 2001; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Rhode Island Chapter of Family Practitioners and the Director of the Department of Health.
